Hyena Squee!
With the last post I made on the San Diego Zoo, I've created a Zoo location map under Mapme.com for finding zoos that have hyenas.

I know it isn't complete, though. So if you have any zoo websites/locations that have any type of hyena (Brown, Striped, Spotted, Aardwolf) on display, please tell me. That way I can add it in.
I'm really interested in any zoos that have Brown Hyenas or Aardwolves, since so far they seem to be rare in zoos.

Hopefully, you can see the map in progress:
It already has 15 hot spots on it.

Edit: I'm having trouble with a location, DeYoung family Zoo, which has spotted and striped hyenas. The maps keep telling me different things for this location in Michigan. The map is up to about 34 hot spots now.
As of Sat., 48 spots. Should I include museums that carry extinct hyena fossils?

Shenzi dreamy...
Anybody else here live in southern California, like I do?

Well, it's been ages since I've been to the San Diego Zoo or the Wild Animal Park.
So while I've always knew about the striped hyenas they had (I have old photos of them), I was a bit slow to discover this news from last year.

Aaaaaand video (Zephyr and Turbo):

However, the San Diego Zoo does not yet have any Brown hyenas. I'm not sure if they still have aardwolves or not.
But I really want to make a trip down there to see Zephyr and Turbo.
Not to mention bringing a art pad to sketch them.

Hey guys - I finally finished my were-hyaena costume (it's actually the Hyaena Man from 'Island of Dr Moreau'), and I thought you guys might like to see it. :) Click the thumbnails to make them bigger!

The mask is from rubberdawg.com, the main part of it is a lycra body suit, and all the fur is false. I have a tail too, but you can't see it in the pictures (made it out of a false bottlebrush thing bought at Michaels). What do you guys think?

Video Games
I've talked about this game in the past and here's a nice new trailer (There's hyenas in it):

The game was released in Japan on August 28, 2008 and will be released in North America on September 22, 2009. No word on any European or PAL date, but I guess it will be close to the NA one.

For more info, check out the Wiki link here:

Kingdom Hearts
There are also new Kingdom Hearts spinoff games for the PSP and DS coming out in 2009/2010. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep.
No word if the two games will have the Lion King world last seen in Kingdom Hearts II in them yet. But it’s known that Tetsuya Nomura is a big Lion King fan, so it might show up.

There’s a Un-Official Trailer of the horror film "Hyenas" online out now:

The trailer doesn’t feature any makeup or CGI effects of the movie, but something tells me that it’s going to be of Sci-Fi original movie quality. Straight to DVD. Not that there’s anything bad in enjoying a bad movie though.
I have seen one shot of the Makeup thanks to looking through a Fangoria magazine.
They also have the article up online: Director talks hyenas

Maybe it might start a interest in making movies with hyenas or werehyenas in them.
I’m keeping an eye on this one.

The Tiger King
Disney has bought a online domain name titled “The Tiger King”.
Monsters Inc 2, The Tiger King domain names

Rumors abound that this might be either a spin-off based on The Lion King, a Disney Nature documentary, or it’s own animated movie which might have a name change down the line.
If it’s a animated movie, might be nice to see some striped hyena characters for once and hope they don’t get turned into villain or henchmen status. But, I think this most likely will be a documentary.

If you haven’t picked/pre-ordered it up, there’s a World of Warcraft Gnoll action figure coming out in August.

My own bit of news
I’m working on a jungle voodoo theme for Halloween this year. So among the things I’m making is a hyena prop trophy head. So stay tuned later when I post pics of my progress and tips during the later months.

4th-Aug-2009 10:28 am - Quick question
Hey guys, I have a quick question - I know a lot of you are furries, but are any of you into human animal play? I myself am a sometimes-dogboy (I'm a switch, but when I'm in a submissive mood I'm almost always in dog mindset); I always see my dog-self as a bull terrier, but I also have a more aggressive/dom animal side in which I always see myself as a hyaena. Anyone else like to play like this? I hope this makes sense to non-BDSM people...
